EKOT email

Mjolby, Sweden

Örjan Eklöf, electric guitar
Lars Hollen, vocals, acoustic guitar, bass

Urban Johansen, drums
Magnus Merkel, piano

The Tribute project to Daniel Lanois gave the band "Dagens Eko" a more than
reasonable motivation to reappear after 17 years of silence.  Dagens Eko were

active at the end of the seventies and early eighties in the area around Linköping
and Mjölby in Sweden.  Around Christmas 1999 Lars Hollen phoned the other
three former band members and suggested a reunion for the Tribute project.
So, two sessions in Lars' basement and we were back in business again.  It was
hard to believe that we hadn't played together for so many years; the atmosphere,
the jokes and the magic bond between members of a band were just there.

To reflect the passing of time and the development of the group we decided to change
the name of the band to the shorter form "Ekot".

The choice of song was of course daring, especially since we knew that this might
be the favorite Lanois song for many fans, but as it is so close to our hearts we
just couldn't avoid it.
